Alka-C (Ascorbate) Flush

As we know, the intestinal tract is the primary system for the absorption of nutrients and the elimination of toxins. Its balance requires the establishment of good immune bacteria throughout the entire gastro-intestinal tract. For imbalances in the intestinal tract you could consider a Vitamin-C Flush using the Alka-C. This involves creating short-term diarrhea for the purpose of flushing out imbalanced bacterial colonies, heavy metals and other toxins using buffered ascorbate to bowel tolerance. After the flush, the good immune bacteria, aided with supplements, maybe re-established and re-colonized in the GI-tract for the more effective capacity of nutrient absorption.

We also know that the body doesn’t make its own Vitamin-C and that it must come from external sources that may not always be available from the diet. In addition to the purpose mentioned above, an Alka-C ascorbate flush may also be used to determine an individual’s approximate daily Vitamin-C ascorbate requirement using the Alka-C. For maintenance, first do the C-flush to bowel tolerance as outlined below and then consume ¾ of the amount that was needed to induce diarrhea. As the body becomes healthier, the useful life span of ascorbate inside the body may increase and less ascorbate will be needed to achieve the desired effect. As the need for ascorbate decreases, there may be a loosening of the stool, possibly indicating that the body may be consuming ascorbate more effectively.

Concerns of an Alka-C Ascorbate Flush:
Following this approach, the patient/client will be well-hydrated, minimizing the risk of fluid or electrolyte loss from the diarrhea. Reported gas or fullness while doing the Alka-C flush, may be due to dissolving the Alka-C ascorbate powder in too much water or from rushing the procedure. Room temperature liquid is best for absorption. If cramps occur, it may be due to too little fluid being used to dissolve the powder.

Dissolve 1/2 teaspoonful (2 grams) of Alka-C powder in 2-4 ounces of water or juice, allowing the effervescence to abate (typically about 2 minutes).  A ‘flush’ or a liquid release of the bowel should be completed before going to bed. The amounts to use will depend on each individual's health status. Use the following guidelines to drink the Alka-C every 15 minutes until a watery diarrhea has occurred then stop consumption. It is recommended to devote a full-day when at home to accomplish this for obvious reasons. It is common the diarrhea will occur only once or twice and that will be all.

  • A healthy person - begin with 1/2 teaspoon every 15 minutes.
  • A moderately healthy - person begin with 1 teaspoon every 15 minutes.
  • A person in ill-health - begin with 2 teaspoons every 15 minutes.

Only mix what is needed to avoid air oxidation of the ascorbate or keep it sealed in an airtight container. Dissolved Alka-Cmay remain stable for a day if it is kept in a tightly sealed container and kept cool or cold.

  • To re-establish and re-colonize the body’s good immune bacteria consider use of the Flora Synergy and/or the Flora 12+ in large quantities for 72 hours beginning the day following the flush (See Flora Synergy Flush). Example: For a 150 pound person - 6 caps before a meal three times per day and 12 caps before bedtime.
  • For heavy metal and chemical detoxification consider taking Arctic Alginate to assist in the absorption and binding of additional toxins that may still being released by the body.
  • SpectraMin and ReHydration in water to support hydration and mineral/electrolyte balance.
